Early Shift Tuesday: a not-so-Happy Lemon (31 January 2012)

I had an online training for a tool that we are going to eventually make use in the office yesterday morning so I was in the office as early as 8AM and very sleepy at that.

I was able to leave the office by 5PM and meet hubby in his office in Ortigas. We went together to Trinoma to buy the 11 cubic Electrolux no-frost refrigerator we wanted. After ref hunting for the past few days from Megamall - S&R - Western Appliances (Trinoma) - Anson's (Trinoma) - SM North Edsa, we finally ended up buying at Anson's because they gave us 1K++ discount and a free Electrolux rice cooker to boot. Saka baka kung saan pa mapunta ang budget namin for this one hahaha! It's going to be delivered this Saturday yipeey!

Before going home, I told hubby I wanted to try this blockbuster hit - "Happy Lemon." The line at their Trinoma branch is really long since they opened. At least yesterday, the line was manageable enough. I ordered the Milk Tea with Black Pearl Sago (left cup on the pic) for hubby and Cocoa with Rock Salt & Cheese for me (the cup on the right).

Myverdict: ay! Bakit ganun lang... ;( I guess I was expecting too much since many have been raving about them. But for me, Serenitea's Wintermelon Milk Tea pa rin ang winner!

Another Serenitea's cup

I was telling hubby over the weekend how I loved their Wintermelon Milk Tea and I just had the misfortune of ordering the wrong milk tea at Bubble Tea. So last Sunday (before lunch), hubby & I with the kiddos all trooped to Katipunan to buy a cup-the nearest branch in our place. Plus, we are buying medicines for Enzo as he seems to be having (the beginning of) a gastroenterities.

Back to the title of my post, the branch in Katipunan is in the Oracle building after passing by Miriam College-Pizza Hut/DQ. I ordered Hokkaido (100% sugar with black pearls) for hubby as I was told this is the bestseller. I ordered naman their Taro Lover (100% sugar with crystals). I don't have a pic of hubby's cup tsk tsk! I realized I prefer the black pearls pala as sinkers than the nata crystals. Hubby's cup is similar to the Wintermelon one but I feel the tea is much stronger in taste while Wintermelon is a lot sweeter. Tama ba my assumption?

So far, Serenitea's Wintermelon Milk Tea is still the must-try for me (hands down!).

Happy Lemon, you're next in line.

Not Giving Up!

...because I was sad today (though I have somehow accepted... and learned to be contented for what was given), I decided to walk a little after my dinner to Burgos Circle and give Milk Tea another try. This time, I'm trying this much raved about - Serenitea's Wintermelon Milk Tea. I ordered the medium size with 100% sugar and black pearls.

My verdict: I actually liked it!

I should have gotten the large size. I didn't know it will be that good. I was disappointed kasi when I first tried a milk tea in Bubble Tea.

Now, I'm happy again! And maybe I should give "Happy Lemon" a chance too... what do you think?

my take on Milk Teas

I know... again, I'm a late bloomer (just like when I started trying the frozen yogurt - circa 2010 -which eventually I craved for and still continue to love - White Hat's Kooky Hat please).

There is a recently opened Bubble Tea Place near my office so I told hubby over the phone that I will give it a shot. I'm not a milk person so there is a hesitation from my end. Hubby said to just order their bestseller. Fine - I ordered the Royal Milk Tea in M size (Php115.00).

...sip...sip...sip...

I can't taste the milk. Rather, it tastes more like the "tea bag you drop in a hot water" (kaya nga milk tea eh!). In short, di ko type! Hahaha! I'll have Starbucks anytime...

BUT I told myself that I will not have Starbucks on weekdays for the rest of the year. Once on a weekend is fine especially if I go out with hubby and Enzo (which recently is our bonding time). Unless someone cares enough to buy me a frap (Dark Mocha Frap please, twice blended with choco drizzle and choco powder), why not! (then calories are welcome).
